Academic Excellence

Background:

The women of Theta Chapter place high importance on academics. To ensure success in the classroom, we encourage study hours at our chapter house where we  study in a fun, comfortable environment as well as help our sisters achieve academic excellence. We also celebrate our sisters' academics by awarding a "Geek of the Week" for the members who recieve outstanding grades on an exam or an assignment. Each semester, we host a special dinner for our members with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The "Scholarship Dinner" is an important way that we recognize the hard work and achievements of our sisters. Many Kappa Kappa Gamma's have gained great recognition on campus for their personal academic achievements, as many of us are apart of  the many prestigious secret societies and honor societies on campus.

Scholarship Opportunities:

Our members are also given the opportunity to be awarded two prestigious scholarships each year, which serve as major incentives for maintainign strong grades. The first, The Koller Scholarship, was established in honor of Hortenze Peetz Koller. Koeller was a Theta Chapter Kappa, who was initiated in 1933. This special $3000 scholarship is awarded to one mmeber of Theta chapter annually during the stpring scholarship dinner. The second scholarship opportunity for Kappas is the Golden Key Scholarship. The Golden Key Schoalrship Fund (GKSF) was founded in 1985 by Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae to raise money for scholarships and provide support for improvements and updates to 512 E. Rollins. The fund has awarded more than 247 scholarships totally more than $410,000 over the last 28 years. The GKSF awards scholarships to greek women, campus wide who meet specific qualificatons in the categories of contributions to their sorority, activities on campus and in the community, and academic excellence. As you can see, although Kappa Kappa Gamma strives to acheive in all aspects of universtiy life, we believe that academics come first and we pride ourselves on the accomplishments of our sisters.
